In the South and Center West of Brazil, it is present as a gigantic tree!
Known as Cebolão, also is in the Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay and part of Chile!

Ombu, ombú, umbú or beautiful-shade are the common name of dioica Phytolacca L., a plant of great transport, with origin in Pampas of the South America, used as ornamental in the zones of mediterrânico climate. Although to present arbórea morphology, ombu is a herbaceous plant of great dimensions, not having wood in its caule, weighs its size even so. The plant forms a canópia with a perimeter of 12 the 15 m, being able to reach a height of 12 the 18 m. The name drift of the word guarani ombu, that it means countenance or shade. Source: Wikipédia…
