Hi all,
Was gifted this Juniper from a novice mate a few years ago and haven't really done much to it until now. It was quite overgrown and needed a repot this year. I wasn't overly harsh with it as I didn't really have a planned direction other than a cleanup. Decided to make a crappy virtual to help with a future idea, do you think this is either a worthwhile direction or an achievable goal?

I know only a little about Junipers, but I believe with older stock it's best to give them a bad shock only once a year. As in, root pruning in Winter, but leave the foliage alone, or clean up the foliage hard, but don't root prune.

I believe the strength in Junipers comes from their foliage....another saying I've heard quite a lot.

the 'after' looks like an old tree.The virt doesn't. I wouldn't reduce the foliage much more at all-- a slight tidy up next year then see what arises

I agree, the ‘after’ looks much better than the virtual in terms of a styling direction
