Progression thread: Banksia paludosa
This specimen was purchased from Plants Plus for $16
This Banksia actually doesn't do too badly in a slower heavier mix. I still add washed river sand for better drainage, but I haven't had any issues with root problems nor drying out for that matter. It loves full sun, and has gorgeous colours on the new foliage. It doesn't seem to mind being overwatered on occasion.
I only do root-work when its growing strong in the warmer months and putting out new growth. But wait till the new growth is a little hard before touching the roots, (in my experience).
The branching takes a long time to harden, so they are easy to style.
For fertilizer I use slow release osmocote native pellets on all my natives. (works for me)
