I've recently bought a chamaecyparis obtusa 'kosteri' and I found a frog in there. I read online that frogs help to keep insects away.

Would anyone be able to ID this frog and help me to decide whether to keep it? Is it poisonous to pets?

He’s lovely, lucky you. Looks like a Brown tree frog. Not poisonous. Leave him be he’ll move on when he’s ready.

Perfectly harmless to everything except insects. Frogs are an indicator of healthy ecosystem so the more the better.

Unfortunately Mr Frog has left my plant this morning when I checked again

My guess is your frog will still be somewhere nearby if conditions are suitable. I have a different species living here. By day they usually hide under the pots - bonsai pot feet are just the right height - and come out at night when its cool to hunt your insects. Whenever I pick up medium and larger pots now I check for frogs. Others have also posted photos of tree frogs hiding on trunks or branches in the shade of the canopy so keep looking out for yours and listen for evening frog calls.
