Hi all,

Thought I’d start this year with 2 olives. Tried to flat cut, boy do they blunt the chain.

I agree about the chainsaw. The base of most trees is a mass of fused roots. Any grit, sand and rocks that was between the seedling roots is now embedded in the wood so very hard to avoid cutting through stone while doing flat cuts.
I keep older chains for this job. They still need to be sharpened but it doesn't seem so wasteful if I chip and blunt a worn out chain.

Ok, I haven’t posted here for a while but it’s still 2022 and I got myself a crepe myrtle. I didn’t dig it myself - bought it, but someone did dig it and it’s been potted up for last two years. I repotted it in a blue tub when I got it home, hope it survives. Image
