Hey team.

I’m curious why dogwoods aren’t seen more in bonsai.

Anyone know why?

I have seen some are used by American growers where some are native plants.
My take is they do not ramify well so harder to get good shapes as bonsai. May also have something to do with suitability for climate. Many do not do well in warmer areas. A number of species have failed even in our cooler garden. I expect pots are even more difficult.

from what I've read a lot of cornus species have long internodes that are difficult to reduce. I have seen a few brilliant examples including this one I believe is a cornus mas by Maros Belan
