Congratulations to all the entrants. It has been a lot of fun and quite interesting to see how everyones interpretation of our natives look when they should be styled as a bonsai.

The pot prizes can be seen here:
viewtopic.php?f=36&t=26357&start=45
The final entries of bonsai can be seen here:
viewtopic.php?f=36&t=30187

The results for the member awards were:

1. Ryceman3 - Melaleuca Ericifolia
2. Boom64 - Kunzea Ambigua.
3. Ryceman3 - Melaleuca Linariifolia
4. KC&R - Melaleuca Thymifolia
5. longd_au - Melaleuca linariifolia

And the Judge awards were:

1. terryb - Melaleuca rhaphiophylla
2. terryb - Melaleuca
3. longd_au - Melaleuca linariifolia
4. Boom64 - Kunzea Ambigua.
5. baldtwitlion - eucalyptus

So, as it was for only 1 pot for each award section, the final results are as follows:

Member awarded pots:
1. Ryceman3 - Melaleuca Ericifolia
2. Boom64 - Kunzea Ambigua.
3. KC&R - Melaleuca Thymifolia
4. longd_au - Melaleuca linariifolia

Judge awarded pots:
1. terryb - Melaleuca rhaphiophylla
2. longd_au - Melaleuca linariifolia
3. Boom64 - Kunzea Ambigua.
4. baldtwitlion - eucalyptus

.....but it isn't over yet.

A special personal mention for me goes to MJL for his Eucalyptus camaldulensis.
His was my favourite entry and is the most natural start for its development in my opinion.
MJL will also be getting a large Aussie handmade pot that I will send you in the post.

So when you get a chance guys, private message me your postal details and I will post them to you.

Congratulations to all the winners, and thank you to all the users who submitted their entries.
You guys are awesome.

Kind regards,
Rory

Wow! This made my day and I’m strangely quite emotional after a challenging few months for a whole range of reasons.

Rory, thank you. I think the people’s choice and judges awards are fantastic and there were so many quality entries in such a short time… I feel very lucky and somewhat underserving in that company but I am so happy that I have had a hand in something that Rory and others enjoyed enjoyed and to be part of a comp where we all learned from each other.

I’m stoked. Thanks again.

Thanks for your work Rory. I work too slow to enter things like this, but it's been good to see the different approaches as they evolve.

MJL, you belong in this company. Your character comes out in everything you do. This is something you will definitely need to fix! (Sorry, only teasing!)

Gavin

Thanks Rory for organizing this competition and giving me a chance to learn so much about natives.
I bought my first native to train as a bonsai because of this competition.

I also want to thanks all the member and judges who voted for my entries. I am glad you liked them.
I never thought I would win anything and I am over the moon with the result.

Thanks again.

Thanks to Rory for organising the comp
Congratulations to all that made it to the end and i look forward to viewing the future updates on all the trees
It was a pleasant surprise to receive a prize ( all be it by default) but very grateful
3 years as it turns out goes quite quickly so a further 10 years is only just around the corner and it seems that quite a lot can be achieved in that time
Booms group, mj’s group eucalyptus, and wattos group were my picks of the comp, I understand watto was a little underwhelmed by his progress but with time many things can change
Just wondering if Rory is going to show his trees that he entered would still like to see how they progressed
Thanks again

thanks mate. It was fun to watch the whole thing unfold.
Yes, that is a lovely little tree, very well put together I agree.

In my eyes, you nailed it mate. A beautiful outcome, and I definitely look forward to seeing this one develop over the next few decades.

Its a shame, as I would have loved to see what you come up with, but I do get that. 3 or 3.5 years is a very short timeframe, considering that most people don't even start to work really seriously on material that is less than 4 years or so.

My baeckea isn't doing so well, as it was in the 'not well looked after' pile. I have a different baeckea of the same species, that I will be persevering with instead of the comp entry though. And the casuarina nana is in full growth mode, but I am down to my last 2, and this was not a good choice of material for a 3 year comp. It went through a lot in the first year or so and I wasn't game to push it. I will put up a progression of it as the years go by though, as its one of the most beautiful casys to grow, but it suffers from severe die-back if you cut back hard.

Well that was unexpected :o

I'd also like to echo the sentiments of others; that this competition was instrumental in getting me to focus on my trees and to keep trying to improve them. Thanks again for the opportunity Rory and also to Ausbonsai members for their continual encouragement and support.

cheers

Well done to all, particularly Rory for organising it.
I agree with those who said that it was a great reason to focus on your trees, that works for me (and we all love an excuse to source more stock that we didn't know we needed until the comp came up).
I look forward to the next comp...

Jan

Hi to the winners....

Sorry, I've been really busy lately and we've had some issues with the weather.
I hope to get the pots posted in the next week or so.

Kind regards,
Rory

Okay guys, nearly all pots have been posted, including yours Mark.

The only pots left to post are the two main prize pots however, which will be posted on Tuesday.
After bubble wrapping those bad boys, they'll need bigger boxes, so they will be posted Tuesday.

I have tracking numbers for everyone if you need them later on.
