Hi guys, my neighbour is about to dig up some Murraya Paniculata's and I am wondering whether to take one and Bonsai it. I help her with a lot of her gardening and and noticed that her Murraya rarely flower. They get a decent spray of sun, they get watered and fertilised with Dynamic Lifter, and I have used both Potash of Sulphate and Bloom Buster to encourage flowering with no luck. Can anyone make a suggestion? Is it possibble that some Murraya are just not destined to flower?

dunno about not destined to flower, i chopped mine back three times this season alone and it has shot new flowers everytime i think if you give it a good chop back it could possibly induce flowering, they make larger bonsai as the leaves dont reduce, this is what i have learnt since i recently got mine. it is quite a large stump. i will be developping it a bit more then selling it i reckon. too big for me

My murraya flowered profusely.They sit in a full sun all day without no special threatments.
And they reduce leaf size reasonably to me. I also believe they are good for large bonsai.

i was under the impression murraya leaves didnt reduce, are you sure thats a reduced leaf size or just a young leaf that hasnt fully grown yet?
just curious because if you check out my thread called stump of an unkown species in there you will see a bit of discussion about it

Yes ,I have read your post on ' unknown species' on murraya very interestinly.It gave me heaps of information about murraya
Sorry i didnt mention the dimentions,the large leave is 7cm in length and the small one is 2.5 cm.
Anyway I dont think leaves are growing for 3-4 months,because one in the right is now at least more than 3 months old.
