Ficus on Concrete Progression

Documenting this progression of a ficus (Moreton Bay Fig?) on a lump of concrete slurry, both of which I collected Inner West Sydney.

The ficus as a cutting last summer.

Concept is a focus growing out of an urban concrete wall. In this case the discarded concrete slurry (no photos of it before - and I have had it buried in the ground until today) has a lot of nice texture that I am hoping the roots will weave their way around. See pics of the top to get an idea.

Previously the concrete was going to be the pot / slab to display the plant horizontally, but seeing how the ficus has been growing I decided it may work better as a “wall”.

Interesting idea! I have two lumps of concrete and I love ficus so might try something similar in the future...

If you do, let me know how it goes.

I love concrete. I live the texture, subtle tones and that it can be made into anything. Yes, now ai am older I love brutalist architecture!

It may fail, but I am hoping something interesting and different comes from it.
