WTB: Pink ume (MELB)

Long shot i know but I'm looking for pink flowering ume preferably in Melbourne for pick up or Vic to make postage easier.

Young material/ rough stock/ bonsai I'm open to all options given it's not exactly the kind of thing you nip down to bunnings to buy.

I have enough white flowering material available to me for propagation to sink a ship, but pink i have just the one, so I'm looking to pick up one or more extras.

Feel free to drop me a PM

Cheers

Tim

Hey Tim... Tien (Bonsai Sensation) has a heap of starters - Pink doubles - and a few stumps which I believe are also Pink. Give him a call - He had heaps so I assume he still has plenty.

Cheers Rob, I picked up one of the stumps but looking at it I’m not convinced it’s going to survive ( much more of it appears dead than I first thought) so looking at alternatives in case it kicks the bucket.

I got 20 or so air layers pending severing.

Double pink.

Hit me up in 6 months.

Just throwing a bump to this, recently I've picked up and also got some young mume material on order so that will be great to have coming in over the next few months to expand my mume growing.

So I'm throwing it out there if anyone has any more advanced mume material they are prepared to part with please drop me a message. Happy to travel to pick up etc, just let me know, i know it's a long shot :fc:

Standing request for pink flowering ume of any size remains too, i have the double pink in my front garden i'll propagate from this year but all others most welcome.

How advanced?

I took a heap of both single and double layers which are between 1 - 2.

Might be hard to differentiate.

I could part with a few.

Could you PM me some photos of your layers when you get a chance? I could certainly be interested in grabbing a couple and happy to wait until winter to see the flowers to tell what is what too :tu:

I'd say I'm really open to anything from finger thickness up all the way to specimen trees at this stage, i just use the word advanced as i have a lot of pencil thick material here/ on the way in the future so i'm trying to get a range of different size/ age material to get more experience with development on.

Is ume the same as prunus mume?

I just bought a couple today if they are the same, both around sharpue thickness.

Not looking to sell them but the place I got them from (Moongate Bonsai) may have more.

If ume isn't there same, I don't mean to hijack the thread but what is the difference between prunus mume and ume?

Yep looks like mume, both are the same plant don't worry ume/ flowering apricot is the common name, mume is the shortening of the botanical name prunus mume :tu:

I have a few around that thickness, but i won't discount them completely for future trips to moongate
