hey people

i was looking at the 3 figs that i repotted about 13 days ago and noticed that there were roots coming out of the bottom of the pot! :o and its only been 13 days since i repotted them.

When i cut the root ball i only left about a small fist full of roots so there wer'nt much rot left at all. This goes to show that figs can be hacked into even on the hottest days and power on even stronger then if you didn't touch them at all. i just repotted a new 'raft' composition that i put together on the weekend so now im wandering how long its going to take for that to shoot off, im guessing not long ;). So if your wandering if its ok to repot a fig now then i would say its ok aslong as you look after them a bit afterwards. :D

to right mate, up here in QLD i find myself repotting my couple of figs every 3-4 months. they are furious growers in the right conditions and it seems that the harsher you cut them back the stronger they come back :D

enjoy :D

It's timing - reduce the roots in hot weather and they power on. I just repotted a fig into a larger pot to give it more scope to develop and in a fortnight it is sitting on a cushion of beautiful white root ends. Figs aren't my favourite tree but regardless of that I love the Port Jacksons and my long time two have just swelled to six in one month. Stop Please, Stop.
