I never knew that native Australians manipulated trees as they grew to communicate the location of resources and pathways.

A ring in a tree like this Leopardwood, indicates reliable water nearby.

Fascinating! Keen to read the paper on "Trees in trees", and learn more about this area!

Fascinating indeed. Great that the pastoralists are investigating Trees in Trees on their properties, and consulting with indigenous groups about them. Some of the photos in the articles you linked to are great. It looks like many of the host trees are reaching the end of their lives, so documenting these epiphytes now is really important.
