I was wondering if all eucs respond to scorching/ burning techniques. Any chance members could respond telling us the names of the eucs they have had success with using scorching techniques and maybe any that didn't respond.

I've only ever done this on two species, and it was successful with both: River Red Gum (E. camaldulensis) and Sugar Gum (E. cladocalyx)

It was done when the trees had stopped growing for an extended period of time and I wanted to kick start new growth and backbudding. Good luck!

I have never used this technic on my Eucs. I have cut mine back hard ( no foliage) during the growing season ,which has the same affect.

The reason I started doing this is that I noticed 2 things. 1. Was Eucs as street trees were cut back to just a stump during the summer a by autumn had new heads of foliage. 2 . Summer fires and the regeneration before winter.

I always make sure my tree is healthy before I use this technic and cut back to the secondary branches. Its a bit of a process selecting the new branches when they emerge.

As far as Fire goes I think that experts in the Vic native club use this technic.

These things work for me in my climate.
