So last year I got excited about starting some shohin zelkova broom from seed/seedlings.

Seeds germinated and were repotted this spring.

Some have come out nice and straight with a low branch split, some have curvy trunks that will not work for a formal broom.

I have tried this before a few years ago but the growth was poorly managed and ramification was too coarse. Maybe restricting growth initially is the trick? :lost:

Does anyone have experience growing shohin Zelkova bonsai? I am keen to see if there a is a good model to follow.

If I could have this in 10 years I'd be stoked

Hi Scott,

Years ago I asked advice on building ramification on a Zelkova and received excellent instructions from Treeman.

Hope this helps.
