The sudden heat plays havock with the smaller pots. I discovered this English elm when all the leaves were brown and crisp but having seen trees come back before I just gave it a good soaking and stripped all the burnt leaves off. In less than a week it has responded. I wouldn't advise this as a routine training technique but it does show that some trees will come back from near disaster.
