hey found juniper scale on my tree shannon was kind enough to help me sought it out but i read a bit on them and heres some info i found

All good mate, just a word of warning on using petroleum based oils on junipers to control scale I have lost several juni's using oils at recommended dose rates.
I've been told that oils can suffocate conifers and also something to do with the amount of humidity in the northern states.
I recommended a systemic insecticide to Dayne.

Anyone got any further info on this???

Yeah cheers took your advice got some rigor and confidor will do a bit of a test hard to find good litterature on the subject from a bonsai side mainly from a farming commercial side any one have any good sites

If you use an oil, use pest oil NOT white oil which is much harsher. I would say the same with Confidor in preference to Rogor which again is a very strong chemical as opposed to Confidor which is mild yet effective as well as safer to use.

Would Lime Sulphur not be any good in this scenario???

I used it on my Juniper by diluting it and spraying it on with water and it got rid of my Juniper scale??

Not sure what you mean Ken. Lime Sulphur worked for you or it did'nt work for you??

Guess we all had the same thought. Shouldnt laugh, it happens.

Seriously, did no one read my post. Has any one given it a go. Perioxide diluted in water, it kills them. Doesnt hurt the plant, ive used it on my cacti and succulents. I spritzed it on, also the surrounding areas to keep them away. U's have to try it.

Well I have juniper and the larval and adult stages of dustywings and lady beetles are common predators of juniper scale and several species of parasitic wasps help control this pest. . If beneficial predators are present, the use of "predator friendly" insecticides such as insecticidal soap or horticultural oils should be used, and pest populations closely monitored.

i will also second on the fact not to use white oil on junipers, i had spider mite and used it i think between the mites and the white oil it smashed 3 of my trees dead.

i think the white oil and petroleum based oils clog up the junipers foliage and it suffocates the tree.

ok i think i have allmost got rid of them after about 3 months i still think rogor is the go but you need to do it every 4 days to kill them at all stages of growth and do this till their gone if you leave it go for a week or two between sprays the eggs will hatch and starts again and then mine built up an amunity so i hit them with a hard dose of lime sulfur every 4 days three times some slight burning on the tips but looks like their dead so act fast and often is my advice

hi guys can someone help me with juniper scale. What was the ratio for lime sulphur, if anyone can help me it would be greatly appreciated.
