BJ :)

theres not much we can say mate, it needs a lot of growth for at least five years ground growing, and thats if it is a fast grower, what you could do right now is try wire some movement in but thats about it!

sorry pal :(

Yeha mate, get it in the ground, or at lease a large box! Give it a few years growth. As suggested, maybe some trunk movement could be introduced now.
Worry about leaf size whens it's got some size and basic structure :)
That's my opinion anyway :)

As the others have already said, pot the tree up into a box or chuck it into the ground for a few years. Don't worry about the leaf size for now as the bigger the food factory the more growth, which is what you want right now. Style the tree as it grows and worry about the leaf size later. Unfortunately Mulberry's seem to develop good wood very slowly for the first few years, but once they start they thicken quite quickly. Leaf size can be reduced really significantly (thumb nail size) over a short time span. If your tree flowers, remove any fruit before it develops. Fruit will take growth away from the wood.
For those that may not know, there is a "Tropical" Mulberry available which grows a bit quicker than the normal one and has tiny foliage from the getgo. Unfortunately the only place I have seen it in Brisvagus was at the Grumpy Guys Nursery ( ) at Coopers Plains and as we know he aint there anymore. Anyone else know where they can be picked up from?

What sort of mulberry is this? From what I have heard the mulberry that makes the best bonsai is the split leaf mulberry. Don't ask me any further questions about this as that about my only knowledge of mulberries other than their fruit is good and there are several on my dog walking routes that I breakfast on in spring.

The Morus Alba...White Mulberry make an impressive tree. There is a lovely tree in Harry Tomlinsons book...The complete book of Bonsai ;)
