pride and joy fig

this is just a fig tree ive had for and grown for 26 yrs

That is a great looking fig BJ1. I dont know if you are aware of defoliation but i think the tree will improve out of sight if you put it on a programme of leave reduction and ramification ;)

good one bj1...as bodhidharma says, a little sorting out on the top....plus I can see roots poking out down the bottom.probably needs a root tidy up,put into a good flatter training pot,feed her up and dont stand too close!!!

thanks guys all your comments are welcome keep em comming this old fig has had it rough it sort of takes care of herself alot you cn say ive been lucky it hadnt died on me but yeah i know she need work on the top i ned to cut back the branch a bit so she might shot out more and i keep all my trees in big black pots 1 theres plenty of soil and moisture incase i forget and 2 they just look like pot plants

you may not like the idea BJ but i think too get anywhere with this tree it needs to be taken back to bare trunk and rebuilt in the structure for bonsai. on top of that root work needs to be done to get them radiating well from the trunk. it has a good basis to go from i think if kept in good health and right temps you shouldnt have a prob getting this beast to look like a bonsai in no time (couple of year).
sometimes it is necessary to go back to a bare trunk to get what we are looking for.
