I have had this pine sitting with my plants for nearly 2 years and I couldn't see the tree-to-be in it, then suddenly it came to me! I raced the pine to my little bench in the shade and started laying on the wire. Unfortunatly in the excitement I forgot my camera to get a shot before wire and shaping
I did fortunatly calm down and go and get it..Initally the tree was alot straighter and has a couple of lumps in the trunk which the I think the bending has helped to incorporate into the flow of the tree as opposed to inturrupt it. I cut back the candles at the top so the new weaker candles will be ready to become leader/secondary branches at the top 1/3 of the tree
As you can see in this photo the new candles in the lower branches are quite long.
Should I cut these candles back now so it starts new buds for foliage pad building in my lower branches?
I dont want the candles to get away on me so I have sparse foliage on the pads this just shows a little more direction as I had wired the secondary branched and covered the thp which I will take off in winter. I have added a quick virt my destination. any comments or advice?
