Fungus on cuttings? Boug and swamp cypress

Hey guys,
To start off with, these are the first cuttings I've ever taken, so I'm still not sure on the whole process, but I want to start propagating a bit more...
I was doing some styling on a Hawaiian torch/smartipants boug and a swampy and figured I may as well keep the off cuts and try to strike some cuttings. I didn't have any propagating sand, so I sued potting soil, and I dipped the cutings in clonex then poked them into the soil. watered well and covered with plastic bags for humidity.
Now they had been in there for approx 4 weeks or so, and every thing was still (mostly) green and looking somewhat alive. They were getting some partial sun (ie early morning) while covered.
Pulled the covers off today to find some plants that look like they have survived, but also some fungal build up. The fungus on the bougs is weird. Haven't removed ti or anything yet.
It sticks out like fingers. The swampies don't look so bad, but they basese are black and the higher foliage is dieing/infected with fungus, but they have also shari new growth out lower down. I'm going to get some fungicide tomorrow and give them all a spray.
Any other suggestions/advice? What I've done wrong?
Thanks guys
PS My apologies for the poor pics. The camera isn't fond of close ups

Nathan, At this time of year in Qld, I wouldnt have worried about the bag over the top. Possibly they may have stayed too wet? Which will encourage mold etc. I would leave the covers off and keep them in partial shade like it seems you are already doing. Good luck,
BB

Thanks for the reply :) I was wondering if they might have been too wet. I hadn't needed to give them any water since planting.
Would a spray with a fungicide be a good idea??
Newb at propagating here haha :S

Nathan, I don't think you did anything wrong. It's hot and we tend to water our plants and plant cuttings more. Heat and humidity make the most suitable condition for fungus pores to develop and spread. If your place initially clean of fungi then usually it's ok otherwise they can spread easily. I started having this fungus spots on my chilli trees, now they spread to my English Oak and the big Boug. I spray the Oak with very dilluted lime sulfur solution and got rid of the fungus on this plant but it suffered heavy leaf burns. Remove those leaves that got infected as cuttings wouldn't need much leaves anyway. Good luck with treating them.
Cheers,
DK

Nathan, Also be aware that most of the info you will read will be written for places where it snows. It can sometimes be hard to figure out your own climate issues, which will have a bearing on these things.
