Just mucking around with my camera last night and thought i would post another photo of my Satsuki - Its amazing how photos sometimes dont do the tree justice. This tree is 550H x 900W x 750D, in other words in dosent fit through a door way.

I have posted this one previously with flowers.....This one is nude.

What a great azalea you must be seriously proud of that one. The Japanese grow azaleas because they make such great bonsai and so often exhibit them outside of the flowering season. Yours is a great example of why that is so.

Compliments on your Satsuki and photography Grant!

It has a wonderful natural feel to it and the foliage pads are very realistic. 900mm wide - I can't believe how big it is either!
I love the choice of pot colour too yet at first it appeared too small. The more I look at it the more I like it!

A lot of people advise against letting moss grow on trunks. Have you ever experienced any problems with it? I guess not judging by the health.

Regards,
Steven

Hi Steven,

Thanks for your comments, it is a tree that i love to bring inside and look at all night, especially when in flower.
The green on the trunk actually isn't moss, i'm not sure what it is called but it seems to grow on OLD azaleas, its also more like a stain.

That is a lovely tree.

Would you consider loaning it to the NBPCA? PM me if you feel inclined.

Hi Grant,

We take loan bonsai for a period usually from one year up to 3 years. The trees are picked and returned by me (with some help of course) after the loan period. The trees are insured against damage, theft etc whilst in our care and maintained to the wishes of the artist by myself and a team of volunteers under my direction.
The loan trees are always on display to the public; whereas the trees we own are sometimes off display for major overhauls etc. Your name can be attached to the tree or you can be anonymous if you wish for security.
NSW loan trees are to be swapped over April or May and are selected from the trees offered to the NBPCA. A selection committee of seven senior bonsai people from around Australia oversee the collection and make the final choices and balance the collection with various styles, material, native, exotic etc. They are assessed from photos which can be problematic for the committee but it is the best system we have. We have two Sydney committee members; Ric R and lee Wilson.
Figs we can only display in late spring, summer and early autumn as it is just too cold for them in Canberra.
We would also consider shorter loan periods if you are to transport the tree yourself or if I am visiting familly in Sydney which is where I came from originally.

Great Tree Espresso.

I love this tree.
Grants suggestion is recognition of what is a fantastic tree.

I was recently looking for some more Satsuki went to the nursery at Castle Hill I got mine from previously to discover three bonsai people had cleaned him out.
They are lurking here somewhere Im sure. (Im just jealous)
