unsure of the breading for this plant??
any ideas, the foliage does turn red or partially red during autumnish
i collected it today after watching it power for a few years now, unsure how it will go in terms of foliage ruduction and ramification but i really like the clump trunks and branch structure
just out of the ground
roots trimmed and initial foliage chop
potted up
and after the initial style

Looks like nandina domestica, commonly known as sacred bamboo but is not a true bamboo. It is used in bonsai. I transplanted a less healthy clump at the beginning of summer - it isn't dead but hasn't thrived. Yours should be ok.

i think alot of hard treat ment has been done to this one all at once
i would be watching the after care very closely, have you given it seasol and superthrive on watering in yet? i would be doing that and keeping it in shade for a good few weeks until it shows some solid growth.
just my thoughts

cheers that looks like the one (re nandina domestica)definitely same leaf and branch structure .
it was of course watered in and will be feed with nitrosol this evening, if you saw where this tree has been thriving then it should warm to its new attentive environment very well.i have since had another look at it and rotated it 45 degrees to mask the deadwood that is sloping, so they predominately look fairly straight now .

So long as the after care is good, this thing should thrive. Nandina are extremely hardy.
Heres some handy information:

That is such a transformation. Maybe in a couple of years we will see more of that trunk as well! I guess you were right about it thriving in its new environment

Hi,
Definitely nandina domestica.
Heres one I collected approx 6 months ago.
Need to change its location, as you can see the branches are chasing the sun.

There is a small leaf variety that only grows to about 60-70 cm if that. In qld anyway, this is the preferred plant for all the greenery along centre grow strips on main roads and around public buildings and parks as it seems to survive really harsh conditions. Many nurseries sell these as Nanduna domestica but they are the smaller variety.
I've actually looked around a lot for the true Sacred Bamboo variety that will grow to over 2 m tall (what i think you have) but have had little success. The comapct variety don't have the tell tale red berries and are more robust and leafy, rather than the finer arching branches.
Have fun. I saw one in a european Bonsai book that was said to be hundrends of years old - amazing movement in the roots, like dragons talons.
