Just to get in on the fun. Here's a swampie I have had for a few years. Needs a full wire an I whole lotta carving.

Why is it that we rarely see these with nice thick branches in comparison with trunk thickness?

are you gonna hollow out the trunk some? there is a whole heap of carving to be done for sure

I think it is to do with the way they are feild grown. I don't think they branch low unless you force them.
With this tree I am trying to ge a lot of thin branches that are very short. This Is to put emphasis on the trunk girth. And also highlight the dead wood that will come from behind and spiral around the tree.... Well thats the plan!
