hey people :D

this is a clerodendrum inerme, there has been some talk about it being native or not, research and talk has lead me to believe it is.
i have only had this tree for about a month and when i got it, it was a bare stump, since then it has just put on growth like anything.

i have only done some basic wiring as the shoots get out of control when left alone. i am hoping my this time next year it will have some nice shape to it and some dense pads or a full canopy.

i am quite happy with the growth it has put on in approximately a month and i will leave it unchecked now for a while to allow it to thicken up in the branches.
then i will concentrate on developing ramification. the only thing i will be doing is watering, feeding and making sure the wire thats on it isnt cutting in it will most likely come off in the next couple of weeks.

thanks for looking and i hope you like the tree :D

ok well i done a little bit of refinement to this one tonight, i was allowed to bring the tree inside  i was amazed.

but i am very happy with how this is coming out and the pads will work out vey nicely i think :D

the main branches are hardening of now and i am developing secondaries and wiring them, this is quite a fiddly prcedure with very thin wire, but is very necessary.

i will be updated my other thread on this one so any comments would be great if posted on the other thread please :D

i am very happy with the top view and how it shows depth of the tree, i dont think it will be long before it is a lovely smooth roundish shape :D

G'day mate

I have not been on the forum for long so don't know the tree's history. Was it collected or ground grown? They are animals when it comes to growing. It should be noted that when you dig up ground grown stock or collect them, any roots left behind will shoot new plants

Best

With their small leaves and textured bark and quick growing on they are better than figs

Jamie

What is its size? have you thought about making it a single trunk bonsai?

sizes-

height- 400mm

width from tip to tip- approx 400mm i think.

trunk- 130mm.

depth- 240 mm aprox.

i have thought about making it a double but not a single. i like it as a triple as you dont see many around but i am interested in your ideas? the main middle trunk has deadwood all the way up the back from where it kinks forward. so that makes things a little hard.

I reckon the middle one but stay with the three for now. You can always remove stuff later but if you do it now you can't stick them back on
