I'm down in Sydney for the weekend, going to Top Gear Live tonight

Hopefully I will be going out to visit Ray Nesci's on Sunday

Is there anywhere else I should try to have a look at while I'm here

This one is not too far from Ray's and is worth a visit. I spent the day there last Sunday and found the owner, Kingston, very helpful.

Oriental Bonsai have moved to Nesci's area. I don't know their new address but they are on New Line Rd, DURAL across from Bunnings. Bunnings can be found by checking http://www.whitepages.com.au bunnings dural

It is near the large roundabout where New Line Rd merges with Old Northern Rd. Bunnings being Bunnings you can't miss it and Oriental is on the other side of the road. So I have been told.

The other nursery of interest is too far to the south unless you know Sydney and don't mind driving. That's Bonsai South on the corner of Taren Pt Road and The Boulevard, CARINGBAH. Not a huge selection but some impressive advanced stock and Leong has a range of sale bonsai from $20 to $20,000. Impressive just to see them and it is seldom hard to find something of interest with character in the stock plants. His prices are very reasonable.

Oh no, not another one in the area. Looks like another trip down there very soon.

Too much to chose from. For some reason I forgot about bonsai south. How long would it take to drive there from thi city? Looks like there is afew out near Dural so I will probably only get to those this time

Bonsai South about 30- 40 mins from the city

Oriental Bonsai?? Never heard of it Mel unless you are referring to Peter Song??

I'll be at Bonsai Environment, Ray Nesci's and Oriental Bonsai for most of the day today. If you happen to be there too and want to say hello, I'll be wearing a blue panama hat if it's sunny or an old Akubra if it's wet (most likely by the forecast at the moment) and I look a lot like that old bloke in the pic on the right.

Orient Bonsai is a tad difficult to find. Coming from the Ray Nesci/Kenthurst area it's actually past Bunnings and opposite (geez ... I've forgotten) a KFC or something like that. You have to keep going to the next set of lights, turn right and backtrack. The driveway is hidden at the top of a crest and the place is not sign-posted all that well.

Cash only, no cards.

Unfortunately they, like so many bonsai nurseries, don't believe in using too many price tags and when the owner hardly speaks any English, it's quite a difficult time . But they are a very nice couple and I couldn't leave without buying a couple of things (a wisteria and a rose jasmine (Jasminum beesianum?).

Can anyone tell me if Oriental Bonsai is closed on any particular day??? I'm thinking of making the drive down there this week. Unfortunately I live about 2 hours away so don't want to drive all the way there for nothing. Or if anybody has their phone no.??

Can't help you there, Seymour. I tried to find a Peter Song at Dural in the white pages when I got home on Saturday but no luck.

If you find out the open days, I would be grateful if you would post them here as I want to go back for something in the next week or so.
