Hi all,

The native region for this tree is northern USA (only just) and lots of eastern Canada. It is reputedly the most northern growing pine.

This tree is about 30 yrs old and measures 1 mtr high. It has only one major cut where a branch was cut off about 5 years ago and a smaller branch brought up to be the apex.

It looks very similar to Scots pine but is greener.

It looks similar to P mugo but not as deep green, shorter and thinner needles with a slight twist.

Buds not as red as the other two can be.

It was collected up to 20 years ago and there are only a few stands of them in Canberra. I don't know of them growing anywhere else in Australia and it was new to me when I moved to Canberra about three years ago now.

I was going to work on it last Sunday but I never got to the workshop. Oh well, my loss, your gain.

Hi all,

I am adding extra photos back on the first post and would be interested in your ideas for this tree.

I am not going to get to work on it for a few weeks so I will have plenty of time to think, and for your suggestions.
