Shimpaku Potting - Best times

I have a Chinese Shimpaku That I would love to get out of the nursery pot and into a training pot. There will probably be little root pruning just some teasing out and removal of old soil as it id pretty root bound. Is it ok to re-pot in late summer to mid Autumn. I read that Junipers have another growth period before winter? If so when do you think would be the best time to minimise the stress on the tree. I live in the Newcastle region NSW if this helps?
I'm guessing the tree is about 7-10 years old in a 200mm pot, I can post an image if required I just don't have any yet.
Cheers all
