Hey all here is a nursery stock Shimpaku I bought about 2 years ago, I am hoping to keep the tree at it current size but just refine the branches & thicken the branches a bit more.
I guess I will leave it open to any styling tip you guys have or anything you can see done better. I'm hoping that Nebari will develop nicely over time as it has a nice root spread at the moment.
It stands about 250mm from the soil.

I'd take it out of the bonsai pot and put it in a larger growing pot to help thicken the trunk and branches. Needs a lot of growth and fill in and you will get that better and faster with more root room. Once it has achieved the development you want it can go into a bonsai pot.

Hi Ryan if this tree was mine I would remove bottom left branch I think it would be a better balanced tree?

i would think bout taking that pointy looking top off as it makes the tree look imature and like a X mas tree. a more rounded top will help with the appearance, i would also put it into a grow box/pot, but would be using a colander that will fill up rather quickly with roots as shimpaku seem to like to be slightly root bound, i have found mine have loved it in a colander and filled the pot quite quickly, now they are pushing strong growth on top too, even though we are coming out of the growing season up here i still have a little bit to go
