Scots pine needs some sun

Summer is over, after all the rain in recent days I look at my garden and think
what will I do today?
Those really hot nasty days are now finished, so it is time to move some trees out of their sheltered positions and make the most of the available sunlight.
I also pruned my moptops along the fence quite severely to let more sun into the yard.
Now I look at my Scots Pine, pinus sylvestris compressa.
It has been well fed and has abundant growth. My plan is to style it this winter, after some preliminary work last year. A closer inspection showed old dead nnedles in the interior of the tree so I felt it was necessary to open up the tree to some sunlight and nurture any small buds in the trees interior.

I feel I shuold have done this weeks ago and would appreciate any thoughts.

Hi Gerard,
Your scotts pine is very fine material just a couple of suggestions for you. First be very careful of multiple branching at any one point, I know the tree is young an you want to push it on a bit just keep a close eye on it and if the trunk starts to swell at those points take some more branches off. the next is to strip the needles off hanging under the branches, this won't slow your tree down too much but will let more light into the lower branches and give you a clearer picture of the branch structure.
