Most electric motors make sparks inside, my old drill spits them out the side. :D
It is the brushes, I believe.

Should be fine, call Dremel just to check if you want.

Definitely the brushes. That's quite normal.

its not if the sparks are massive and its making a different sound, the brushes need replacing or you will burn the motor out quick smart. replacement brushes wont be much, dont use it until you fix it. they are simple to fix, unscrew the cap take the brush out and then replace it put the cap back on and you will be good.

I had a similar problem = only mine was a brand new machine = used it once.

I returned and it was replaced under warranty.

I guess that is a good place to start - return under warranty conditions.

just the brushes mate dont worry there meant to wear down.

A year seems a bit quick though, is it a Dremel brand or just a cheap one from Bunnings or somewhere.

if its a good one i'd be taking it back to the shop, if just a cheapie then nothing to worry about.

just go take it into a power tool shop and tell them you need some brushes.

When you do replace the brushes ask for the ones if they have them with traces of copper in with the carbon for better wear and contact
Also silly as it sound power outlet, with computers in older house or rural propteries they can get surges or brown outs that can do the same thing? however this is an industrail tool!
