What to use and when?

Being a newbie I am still learning what should be used on which plants. I have recently lost an elm by spraying it with Confidor. I have also read about not using seasol on some natives? I think I nearly lost a eucalyptus citrifolia using seasol, but it is recovering. It was either the seasol, or the very wet season we are having.
I have osmocote regular and native, miracle-gro, seasol and confidor that I have been using.
I have a few species of fig, some junipers, a JBP, elms, olives, lillypillies, firethorn, gmelina, spruce, maple, bougs, banksia integrifolia, melaleuca little red. I think thats it.
Would appreciate some advice here.

Hey Glenda
I am hoping to put together a little chart of trees varieties and what to and when to them
Eg, Fertilizers - When and what, Pruning - major and Minor, Repotting - When and how much to remove of roots. Wiring times, Etc
All this sort of info in an easily accessible chart but getting the info together is the hard and timeconsuming part
If anyone wants to put up this info for each of their tree varieties I am quite happy to collate it and postsomewhere

Hi Glenda
that is true that some natives don't like seasol at all and some like it, can't say which ones but it is true.
Something I do know is when you fertilize a lilypily don't use dynamic lifter or any kind of fertilizer like this, they don't like it at all and in most cases it kills the tree. So NO DL for the Lily pilys, Thats my handy tip

Hi Hugh and Glenda
Last time we looked into seasol and natives on the forum it came up there was no issue. From memory I think even the manufacturer of seasol got involved! Pup states he has had trouble with Confidor on elms but myself and some others have not and I have found it recommended for Ulmus beetle treatment.
I have discoverd that DL can turn (inorganic) soil very Alkaline so if that upsets the Lilly pilly maybe it is an issue for them?

hi glenda,
i noticed you said you have a spruce, how does that go up your way? i would of thought our temps would of been way to hot and humid for them. especially up there.

Glenda, I have had a very near death on my elms from confidor what I find is My elms do like any systemic so I use alternative insecticides like chili based or garlic.
As for seasol be careful of dilution rates, and remember it is not a fertiliser as such it is a soil improver and a bit of a tonic!.
Dl sends the soil alkaline over time or in large doses, MOST natives prefer an ACID soil. Like all Fertilisers little and often is the best way.
Cheers

Pup

Hi Jamie,
Spruce loves spring, but hasn't done anything all summer. Still alive, though. Doesn't like too much water, but I keep it shaded and water a little twice per day.
