name: Hugh Grant
state: NSW

tree name: baekea
b/n: Babingtonia Virgata
age: 15 years
yrs in training: 3 yrs
size: height -30cm , width - 43cm
style: broom, (in the style of an african broom style tree where animals have eaten the top creating a flat like top with tangled distorted branches underneath)

i purshased this tree frow ray Nesci as 12 year old stock in november 2007.
it had a basic shape but needed alot of wiring and a few guy wires where used to bring branches down more.
in spring 2008 it basically died from an ant attack but was brought back to life after a quick repot and bare rooted to remove the ants nest. it budded back and was left to grow for a year.
mid 2009 it was trimmed and from then on constantly trimmed every month. in january 2010 it was given a heavy trimming as it was getting much too thick.
at the start march 2010 i bare rooted it and cut off a bit over half the roots and potted it up into a bonsai pot, it is now happily growing on.
