Collected Callistemon

This is a tree that I got from a work site today.
I was working near by and had noticed it in the morning and when I came back from lunch there was a bobcat parked on top of it so I asked the drive to move his bucket so it could retrieve it before it was to late.

This has the potential to be a very impressive bonsai with that trunkline, literati or semi cascade?? Here's hoping it lives through it's ordeal...lets all say a little prayer to the Bonsai gods!! :)

That's some nice natural movement. Looks like it has some age to it. I cant wait to see where you go with it. :D

Thanks for all the comments

I would have no idea how old it is and yes I will pray to the bonsai gods and hope that it dose live thought this.
I have been told to keep up the water if there are some other handy tips that might help it along that would be great. I would appreciate any help that is offered.

Cheers
Andrew

nice find champ :D

i reckon if you tilted the tree towards the camera more bringing the trunk line up it will show more of the movement it has some nice flow but cant be seen at that planting angle i know it is very early days but if it is going to survive might as well try get the root system set in a position that will show of the trunk line better ;)

Verry nice find
Do not worry about how you will style it, make sure it survives
Give it a good drink of Seasol every day for the next few weeks and if looking dry at all water again. In 3 months you shodu see signs of life if you happen to be lucky. there does not seem to be many roots on it :-(

Good luck
Ken

Nice find Andrew.
Yes, keep it damp, but not waterlogged. Don't overfeed. It will respond mostly to the 'damp' soil. Depending on the species and the weather, it might shoot soon or not until it warms up in late winter/spring in your part of the world.

Look forward to seeing it grow.
Cheers

Wowzer !! Great natural material indeed...

I would style it from the second pic as a literati for sure :hooray:

Best of luck with it...

I "Aquired/Given" 3 from a nature strip yesterday from a "friend". They all look good, but no where as natural looking as yours mate, look after it well :worship:

Cheers.

Hi Andrew

How did the callistemon recover from the transplant? Any pics? Should I be looking in the comp this year?

Cheers

Tim

G'day Tim
Unfortunately it did not make :(
There were not enough roots to keep it alive.
