Post by Hawaiian77 »

Howzit Guys,

A friend told me that someone was selling some of there bonsai's here on Maui because they could not keep up with them. So I went down to take a look and this is what I bought.

There's something about roots that I like that always attracts me to them. :D

Mahalo Jamie,

Don't know yet, for now just letting rest and grow till I have something in mind. It was in sad shape for awhile. Besides single line, do you have any other ideas and/or virts.

It's almost unstyled. At least a thinning of the foliage to reveal the structure a bit. The root is good. It has to be styled to achieve it's full potential.

Howzit Guys,
I went in and made some adjustments. I took off that one branch to the far right. On the other right hand branch I made an wedge excision on the bottom of the branch and used a 6.0mm wire to move it more to the right. On the lower left hand branch I made two wedge excision, one on the bottom of the branch and the second half way up the branch and again used a 6.0mm wire.

gday tim!

getting there mate getting there!! :D i would consider removing that middle left hand branch aswell and using the other as a new leader and...(you probably wont like this) go back to a basic bare trunk, the willow leaf back bud well and you wont have a drama rebuilding, these grow pretty much all year round. i will virt the line i see and the new tree i see now you have shown me some lines :D

be back soon with it :D

Hope you stuck the 'cut offs' in a pot, Tim. They grow easily from cuttings (I have a few on the go at the mo). Very nice score there.

Mahalo Glenda,
Yes I did!! :D Also, when I root pruned the fig I had some nice root cuttings too go. I think the next go-a-round I'm going to plant it in a little deeper pot.

Mahalo Jamie,
I was thinking about that middle branch but left it to see what you say about it.
