This is part of todays effort potting up some trainers into Bonsai pots ready for another growing season before trimming and styling takes place .

Great stock there mate! Looking forward to additional photos when you grab the opportunity,

This was put together in Feb' 09 using 3 small nursery stock plants , each trunk was channeled into the driftwood and secured with cable ties .Grown out in a 350mm planter bag since then , now it will continue to grow on in this Bonsai pot until next season when it will undergo its first styling .Cheers

At least now I know how much work goes into these particular style of trees. Once those branches thicken you wont even know where there graft is. Hopefully mine will look something simliar once I have finished. I am in no rush though I have plenty of time.

i did send a reply to this but for some reason it didnt come up ohwell.

this is some great work alpine these are going to be corkers. i think phoenix grafts can make stunning trees, especially when they have grown into the deadwood well.

look forward to seeing these in ten years mate!! you have access to some great stock, trees, deadwood, potting media, stones etc. etc.

This is another which was reset twice , the driftwood was too overpowering for the aged Savin juni' i used {12yo} which was damaged .Reset in winter last year and again today as the older tree doesn't take off like the young nursery stock .While i have actually wasted 2 years, i have learned a very valuable lesson or two. I do have a cutting taken 5-6 years that will be attached to the driftwood to fill the over large driftwood section .

Hi Archie , yes there is a little bit of work involved but i love doing these .More work trying to post in 1 complete set .I'm sure yours will come up a treat , the older the tree the harder they are to work with . Channels work really well , keep them tight and the trunk only has to swell 1mm and its on its was to being as one with the wood . Cheers

Hi Jamie , while you were trying to send i was trying to upload give them 2-3 seasons and the bark begins to roll over the driftwood . Even the most hardened criminal will find it hard to pick the fake . As for stock we all have the sameaccess i just travel 100,000klms per annum more than most looking for the ultimate prize . Sometimes i find the most unexpected material most is all between here and there .If i'm not on here i'm out there .Cheers
