Hi people,

We have Tony Bebb coming for a weekend at the end of July, and I am in need of some trees for the workshops. I am told that for the three workshops I will need around 6 trees, and at present I have four. I would really like a biggish bouganvillea/ I am willing to spend around $100, depending on freight costs. I am in North Qld, and am driving down to Sth East Qld during June/July school holidays so if anyone has something in that area I could pick up, I would be willing to spend more as there would be no freight. Am I making sense?

I may be interested in some other species as well. What I currently have that I am hoping is suitable is a chinese juniper, 2 ficus benjaminas, and a gmelina arborea.

Photos are definitely required, preferably from several angles. I may take a week or so to reply to your posts as I am studying and only get on this site about once a week.

Thanks,

Glenda

Glenda. There are a lot of big ones in the area, where you are heading for holidays. Just do what we normally do - knock on the doors and ask if you could give the owner some money to get rid of them for him/her.
Good luck.

I had thought of that, kvan, but was worried that it would have to be chopped right back, and might not have shoots enough for the workshop in just over 2 months time.

Glenda, unless it's a carving workshop, the big bougs won't be suitable.

a freshly collected tree is no good for the situation glenda, you really need to find one that you can buy as raw stock. your best bet would be to ring up the bonsai nurseries in brisbane and surrounding area to see what they have to offer, otherwise you might have to change ideas and go for something else.

One of the workshops IS a carving workshop. I am told Tony Bebb is BIG on carving.

LOL Asus, I am doing a PhD in Education, teaching High School maths/science full time, and trying to find time for Bonsai!
