firstly, thanks to Mitchell and his topic (viewtopic.php?f=29&t=4532 ) for the great ideas!!! Thought id share my own efforts. i tried to keep it simple as possible! cheap as chips, tough as nails!

Wow! Great stuff! That will last for a long time. The swivel does seem the goods eh!? I was surprised at how little flex it has in it.

Great minds... I built one of these and screwed a piece of 3" * 2" pine to the base so I can clamp it into my Black & Decker Workmate I've had for years. Works like a charm but dirt gets into the bearing and it grates as it turns. I might have to flust it out and oil it.

I added an extra ring when I made mine. Dirt has to travel up if wants to get to the bearings.





It can hold up to 250kg

I am sure Mitchell will tell you, it is a big hardware store that starts with a capitol B and ends with a capitol S. Well that's where I got mine, except I was lazy and made mine square.
Made the feet out of pine, and cross with a half house out joint.

I recently costed a Masakuni turntable and they are $500 and $600 or more each.

I bought one 30 years ago for $80 I think.

Ouch! Must be good quality.
My swivel and stand are holding up a treat. I water blast roots clean all the time on it, sand and all, bit of grit in the swivel but still functioning more than adequately.
I'm sourcing a new higher torque motor for the swivel, plants look terrific rotating on it...

Hey Grant,the NBPCA isn't interested in some, automated 360 spinning displays are they? Cause I know a guy who knows a guy, that could build and install them at a fair price.

Not at the moment. All our trees are on turntables and are turned each day to face the front and then back at the end of the display day.

We do have some trees that look very good in the round and will eventually do something like what you suggest possibly at the new site in 18 months or so.

The original Masakuni turntables should last hundreds of years as they were a cast iron base and solid wood top. Proper ball bearings that can be greased as well.
