Hi all

A friend gave me this garden center Juniper (not sure on variety) after finding it hiding in the back of his garden.
So one rainy day in Sydney i gave styling it a go.
I have never owned or worked on any Junipers before so any thoughts would be great.
Was fun to try something new.
(as mentioned it was raining so apologies for not so great photos)
Tree has responded well - new budds everywhere..
I think need to see how foilge thickens and then deside if other branches need to go.

Hi Sean, You have done a nice job of wiring out your juniper. You should keep many more branches than you require for the eventual design just to get a bit more weight into the trunk, easy to cut them off in a couple of years. I would even let some of the lower branches run a bit to create some taper.

its good to try new things for sure! i think what you have created with what you had is good! these sorts of material are always hard to work with, so you have done well.
i agree with craig on leaving the low branches and let it grow, this will help pump some energy into the tree and thicken the trunk! the other thing is i think this is one of the upright species of juniper, blue point or spartan, i think it is blue point, which means it will always want to grow vertical however much you wire it. so that will be a challenge for you to get it to grow the way you want!
