Hey all melbourne kids

This coming Monday night Jow, Gerrard and myself are doing the demo at the Vic society
The Kew Masonic Centre 31-33 Strathalbyn Street, East Kew. Doors open at 7.30pm demo starts at 8pm. Vic society is with out doubt one of two of the most progressive clubs here in Victoria. While Jow is a seasoned demostrater, this is a 1st for gerrard and myself at the Vic. It is with great honour and pride for us to go up on the stage for this club. Jow will be demonstrating and talking about correct wiring technique. Gerrard will be wiring and styling a pine for its first time. I will be discussing and demonstrating how i set up young stock to grow on. A great night aimed at the beginners to intermediate. We would like to see as many of you Melbourne cats there as possible. Support your locals! Help us to help Australian bonsai.

I know this is a forum, and forums are discussions, but I would love to see a reference type section where beginners can go and read without having to ask the endless questions I seem to ask. I think (IMHO) something like a condensed written version of stuff like this (especially setting up young stock to grow on) would be greatly appreciated by us novices (I am sure I am not the only one). When I look out there in the big world wide web for advice, so much is conflicting. For example: plant your trees in the ground to get them to grow quickly - don't plant your trees in the ground because you get poor nebari development and trunk movement. I certainly would be there, but Kew is just a few kilometres too far from Mackay

would love to see this, any cats from cat town keen? Webos?? if not, i also would be grateful to see pics up on here.
Hi Glenda, i'd say in the example you gave both are right, both methods have positives and negatives. Try to decide which method suits best the tree plan and final size you have in mind. i like a raised growing bed/box myself if you have the space. plenty of room and you have some control of tree and roots. please keep asking the questions, its good for all of us. those who want to learn and those who want to teach.

Hmm
, A section on Beginners Howtos!. Sounds like an interesting idea
Good Luck Ant Gerard and Jow.
Enjoy yourself and have fun, Teaching must be one of the greatest ways of learning there is, as I makes you verry aware of the topics at hand.

It sounds like I had better get my wiring in order as Jow will tell everyone what is correct.
That is really being thrown in the deep end. Go for it Jow I dont mind if I learn as I go.
