Hello again, I came by some African Peach cuttings on the weekend, and was just inquiring whether anybody has done one as a Bonsai.

Hi James, do you mean Sarcocephalus latifolius , Sarcocephalus pobeguinii and Sarcocephalus esculentus? If so mate, I hate to disappoint you but I doubt it. I found it hard enough to find just general info on this species let alone ones done as bonsai. That's not to say it can't be done mind you. The leaves and fruit are quite big but if they take well to pruning and you get good leaf reduction, ...why not give it a go?? I am trying it with an Arabica Coffee Tree and the leaf reduction has been nothing short of amazing....(so far). As far as I can see, this species originates from Central west Africa.

Hi John and Anja, the pics of the Sarcocephalus Latifolius look similar, the original plant that I got the cuttings from has small leaves but, the doner plant is only about 20 cm high though, and was purchased from a Bonsai Nursery, they told the lady ( that bought it ) that it was an African Peach, the leaves look similar to a small fig leaf ( non edible fig ) and the bark is a ghost grey color, I shall post some pics of the cutting tomorrow.
