Frost Covering (+Poll)

Hi all,
Just curious as to what measures people take to protect their frost sensitive plants?
Answer in the poll or share your tips/ideas/methods here..

I am asking as I will need a permanent winter frost setup of sorts now as I have too many figs and some others that I have been told to be careful with during frosts (eg. lilly pillys?), before I go ahead and make one I thought that the people on AusBonsai might be able to shed some light on how they do this..what works and what doesn't

Cheers :)

G'day Bonscythe, I use a glasshouse for my figs although i have left some under some shade cloth protection to see if i can acclimatise them a bit.

G,day do not normally get frost, had two in 15 years both two years ago. If there is forecast I will put susceptible plants under the eves or in the cold frame,I call a fig house.

Cheers :) Pup

First frost in Sydney this morning i've noticed, crunchy grass too! 2 degress when I left for work at 5am. That's prompted me to put up covering for my figs tomorrow, bought a few inside but there's still 30 or so outside that i'm a lil' worried about.

3.5 Deg here this morning, But that is kept a bit warmer than the Weather staion due to trees and Buildings around.
I keep all my trees nera the base of Gum trees and next to wall of the house. Not worries about frosts then for me

My figs stay outside

i havent seen a frost in a long time.. even more so now in not usually up that early

i would keep figs in some protection from frost, or any frost tender tree for that matter if i was getting cold frost and it was raining for a fair bit. i beleive trees can handle the cool fine if they arent wet, when they are cold and wet then probs can occur, cold and dry(you know what i mean ;) ) should be ok.
