This is another repossession from my daughter, glad she holds onto things. I chopped this old fig up the other day. I left the 4 points where I want to thicken up the foliage. I thought maybe planting it in a long tray so that the arial roots at the open end will drop down into the opposite end of the tray and take root. Do you think it looks too clumsy and would I be better making a couple of trees out of it. I bought this tree when it was about 5 inches high over 20 years ago. I have cut it in half, the other bit is the same size. Open to all suggestions!!

Hi Loretta, you may find a tree within the second pic, but I would do what you intended to - make a couple trees out of it.

How very unusual! two trees sound like a good option, though I would be tempted to re-pot and have it return back to the soil it came from. Not often would you find a plant , even a fig like this. To me it just looks like it wants to return and have a twin trunk. I'd let it and see what I could create. That's probably not the best way to achieve a bonsai though, as it will be hard to make it convincing.
