Agreed! That is insane! I'm not sure why that is not more commonly used, I've seen many methods of making rows/trenches with tools but never a nail board.

For anyone interested in mass prop of cuttings check the link out, a custom board with nails to stamp your soil ready for inserting cuttings... Brilliant!

Glenda no doubt there are more qualified than I am.

But I think that the Satsuki are a variety which is a hybrid which typically flower between May and June in Japan, which is more or less summer time.

Also this particular hybrid has a certain number of stamen and flower lobes and covers a whole gammit of colours from white to red whereas some other varieties are predominantly red or predominantly white.

I gather from my reading that because they are originally a hybrid the flower types and styles are constantly changing and often one plant can have multiple colours or stipes etc. I have one at home which has the most amazing purple stripe along the white flower. (according to my research it is an Australian New Zealand variety named Bimzakuri or Bemzakuri)

Anyway thats what I think I know.

Lets see if anyone can support what I think or can let me know where I have it wrong.
