yes steven I can take a hint, so here is another one of my trees.
I posted a "hello" to Pat K after his introduction to the forum and mentioned that he recommended an oval pot for an Olive of mine that was on the show table.
Well here it is and all these years later I have found no reason to change the pot.
It was the first material that I collected and styled, so even though I have better trees, I have a soft spot for this one and it probably has a home for life. Collected at Singleton in 1998 on the side of the road.
Stands just under 30 cm tall and was reduced to trunk only, as such all branches started as a single leaf. The tree was developed in a bonsai pot and not in a large growing container.
Photo taken April 2008 after repotting....My mate says the top is too heavy ?

Hi mate, for my mind, it is a little top heavy, but only due to spacing being between some of the lower branches, and then no spacing at all amoungst the top branches.... so in comparing the top half to the bottom half, then I would say a little top heavy. However, in saying that, looking at it again, I might not have even thought that if you hadn't brought it up, so, eh, who knows...

I really like the tree, very nice.

Very Very Nice Dave. I enjoy putting prices to my trees,I Imagine what price someone would have to offer to get the sentimental ones of me . There is one though that I just can not put a price on. It is not my first tree but very close to it. I purchased from Ray for $25. It would be worth nothing more than $50 to most in the nice pot. (my christmas entry) I had a laugh one day when I realised I had never even thought of a price. As hard as I have tried I just can not fix a price in my head that would pry it out of my hands.

I don't think your olive is top heavy. I do think that the upper trunk is slightly too thin though. Maybe this leads your friend to believe it is top heavy. I am sure with time in your capable hands this will resolve. I would guess this would have been solved by now if the new leader had been grown out in a grow box early in development.

glad you like the tree.
Marc, I suppose if branches diminish in size as they go up the tree, so should the spaces between them, for balance.
Nice pick-up Soltan, yes the top of the trunk is on the light side, however, the photo does not do the taper any justice due to the foliage on that left pad, covering the trunk transition. You are 100% correct that growing the leader and sacrificing most of it would have given me a quicker thickening of the trunk.

Where have I been - that Pat K pot is fantastic, I love the glaze. Does anyone in Brisbane sell these pots?

If I'm not mistaken, those of you in Brisbane who want a Pat K pot.... the AABC Seminar on in June [check show section] will have Pat Kennedy and his pots in the sale area. So if you want a PK pot... or three or more... get in EARLY and start saving NOW. Pat's stand is very popular so sign up for the seminar and get there early on Saturday and hit the sales area.

The olive is very nice and even nicer without the huge bulbous trunks so many have. It has nice proportion and balance and while some think the top of the trunk is too thin.... they ALL would jump at a chance to have it.
