[Wanted] Large Old Juniper Prostrata or Japanese Black Pine

Hey all!

Don't expect to get much response but thought I would get the message out there.
I am currently chasing some excellent UN-worked yet prepared bonsai material.

Must be old, have nice movement from the soil level, established nebari, chunky trunk (Pro min 70mm, BP min 150mm at soil) with good taper (no more than 80cm high) and not a chop top job, an established apex, branching starting from no more that 100mm above soil.

So basically, i'm after perfect stock, to grow an awesome tree from.

I have been searching in the $350-$600 range (which is where stock at my local bonsai nursery stops) and nothing so far has qualified with the above mentioned. This does not surprise me.

I am now looking in the $400-$1000. If you have something on offer which qualifies or comes close please send me a PM with pics if possible.
I am willing to go much higher than $1000 if a perfect example is presented.

I did manage to find a large tree nursery today I didn't know of, even know the sales girl, perhaps shopping for large deformed landscape trees might be an avenue to pursue. :?

Please feel free to comment, as to any sources you may know of, or the likely hood of such material even existing in Australia.

Thanks for your time. :D

Mitchel, Join a club and you will get better and cheaper trees at sale days and other members that are cutting back (bonsai sites are not clubs)

;) I'm at Ray's every week.

There's one JBP that shows promise, in a grow bag down the back.
Sadly they are all slightly too flawed, great stock yet I'm hanging out for better. Something tells me some sneaky lil' buggers, get access to the great stock before it goes on the floor... :)
He was saying more JBP will be coming in about 2 weeks. :)

Was speaking to Clinton about you and others this arvo, will send you a PM re: classes. Thinking of joining. :)

Hi Mitchell,

Just to confirm. Is it Juniperus Squamata Prostrata you're after? If yes i have a few that ranging from 15 to 20 years old. Some still in plastic pots while other already in high quality bonsai pot.
