I received this pot plant on the weekend. There are 3 interesting ivy like plants growing.
There is new growth which is fern like in appearance, bursting along the vines. The Winter? affected leaves having yellowed and some are dropping.
I'm unsure if the drooping appearance is something sinister (recent frost) or is it specific to the species?

Any ideas?

Hi Anja, i'm not sure what this tree is but the bark and branches remind me alot of my Virginian creeper. Same sort of red coloring on the new shoots but different leaves.. Maybe some type of Ivy,?

Grape Ivy, Oak Leaf Ivy
Cissus rhombifolia

not 100% sure but i think they are a little different to each other, from what i can see the seration leaf is slightly different, but very close all the same, care should be the same too.

Have fun Anja there are heaps of similar looking vines.
Here are a few famillies to try
The grape family Vitaceae which the above Cissus is a genus of.
Hedera This is the virginia creeper family I think
Toxicodendron Including poison ivy and Poison oak I think which looks pretty similar.
Rhus
toxicodendron is pretty close

God it goes on the sumac family.

Good luck. The Mt Tuma botanical gardens do a free species Id but they are not great with exotics

Lol Brett. Skin test reveals no irritation thus far, going on 30 hours... so I think I can rule out the toci* family? Getting square eyes from Google .

Cheers all, now here comes the fun part. If anyone has ANY info on repotting/cutting back etc from experience, I'd love to hear it

The 3 sisters are quite root bound and not happy about it either.

it is a Cissus rhombifolia 'Ellen Danica' there is several varieties of grape ivy in cultivation.

being it is part of the vine/creeper family, be sure to expect some rampant growth which may take a lot to tame down some, i havent much experience with vines/creepers but from what i have seen i wouldnt expect much in the way of leaf reduction as they are designed\bred for solid growth I beleive. I would be looking at developing the tree for possibly winter appeal or when it is fruiting, i will presume internode length might be a problem too so you might have some work on your hands, not putting a damper on it, i have seen some excellent trunks of the grape/vine/creeper family
