This was collected 2 years ago after a dozer had pushed a new road in the pine plantation behind my place . Again i had no ideas on design just wanted a big Ash unfortunately the base continued to sucker up .Today i solved this issue with a bit of carving , inspired by the Mangrove on Long Island Qld i thought i would challenge myself .The only mistake was not to remove the bark before carving .This would have allowed a more precise carving .All in all not bad for 3 hours of play .I will decide whether or not to carve the upper section or remove it and regrow a new branch structure . Thanks fella's , the more i look at it the more i lean towards cutting the top out to the 2 lower branches and retrain no 2 as a new leader .Cheers Alpine

i reckon if you chop the top section and rebuild the tree it will be much better, there is a straight section between the lower and upper area, doesnt fit, rebuliding the branching lower just above the skull cave will look sweet!

Hi Jamie , the trunk is as collected .Split by the dozer as it pushed the tree over then the trunk out .I have been trying to grow a rootball as it had none on collection .Most of the energy went into the suckers i did however defol' a couple of times to improve the canopy and hooked a couple of wires on to help .Had no real plan to speak of until now .Cheers

Hi Ant , on its way to a new life . Will get into it again tomorrow and cut the top off , then carve the shari section . Something different but thats what i like about Mother Nature .Considering it was in a 750mm bonsai pot , its now in a 350mm pot the progression has started .I hope it back shoots in the right places .Cheers Alpine

your carving work so far has been excellent! I look forward to seeing your detail carving on one of the side shots the skull cave face actually looks a little bit like the sandstorm in the mummy (movie, the mummy returns has a similar face thing but with water).

do you think the 350mm pot is a wee bit small for the trunk?

Hi Jamie , its talking to me for sure ,couldn't think of what it was but you nailed it .Yes the pot is too small but i didn't have anything else but a training box .I know it wont grow a huge root mass this season so i can stay for the time being unless i rearrange another tree .Cheers Alpine

Hi anttal , yes it is a better front nice movement , i was thinking of rotating it about 20 degrees clockwise to improve the movement on the original front as 2 dimension doesn't show at best but retain the scull for the front .I dont plan on keeping the tops at this stage only for root production , but you never know .
