Hi Pup

I have a very lanky and untidy Leptospermum Madidum which is beginning to burst open with new growth. Should I chop the R/H trunk back to the first or second set of branches and what do I do with the L/H trunk...can I make it a shorter trunk or get rid of it completely??? I realise that with the tree being shorter it will look bigger
Never had natives before but am very keen on them

thanks Loretta

G,day Loretta just popped in for a look , as I am re potting and getting some stuff potted for the Auction at the club.
Saw your Question, before I make any suggestions can you give us a look at the roots, does it have many near the surface. Also by tipping the tree to the right you will get more movement, to look at, so before you cut any thing off ( remember ) once cut cannot be put back.

I am off now to do some more work will come back later.
Cheers :) Pup

Sorry Pup, but the internet just dropped out on me  now I'm being told my files are too big...get back to you   Loretta

I can't under stand it but I'm now being told my files are too big even tho it allowed the first one to go through :?
The front of the tree has the same size root coming from the R/H trunk and it's growng to the side right in front of the L/H trunk. There are also alot of very fine fibrous foots growing all around it. I'll keep trying but am getting very frustrated
cheers Loretta

Hi Pup, this is the best I could do due to photo problems. I don't know why so many of my photos are rejected and some aren't.
cheers Loretta

Unfortunatly they do not show me much. Are there any other roots, like lower down or more fibrous. The heavy root as you call it is not very good.

I would if this was mine be inclined to tilt it to one side then another to have a look at, what movement you have. Turn the tree to look at options also while you have it tilted. Sorry I cannot be of more help at this point.

Cheers :) Pup
