As this is my first post here, hi to everyone!
This is one of my favourite Hawthorns I photographed this afternoon, originally collected from grasslands in 2001 near where I used to live in Greater Manchester, UK

Height of the tree is 30"/77cm, as it has been since around 2005, trunk diameter is just under 3"
I couldn't resist taking this second picture of the tree with my 'accent daughter' Alice as she was pottering around the garden while I was taking pictures!

Enjoy!

beautiful tree Harry, so is your "accent". You could have a potential bonsai-ist on your hands there

Hi Harry! You are most welcome. I have been a frequent visitor of your excellent website, Bonsai 4Me, over the years and have often recommended it as a work of reference to people with questions or problems, bonsai beginners especially.
http://www.bonsai4me.com/ I noticed that the lovely hawthorn you showed here is the same as the one on your home page, right now.

Liked your article about carving a hawthorn too! Of course that shrub is not native to Oz, but it has been self sown or bird sown over much of the countryside here, and as it is considered a noxious weed, permission to collect it is not difficult to get. Many of us bonsai fans here in the South own at least one, though most would have a very hard job competing with yours for stature and grace.
I hope to see your name re-appear often on this forum. With best wishes,
Lisa

G,day Harry and welcome to Australia. I find the hawthorn a very nice and graceful tree, the accent could be better placed though more to the front and, on the side of the movement.
I had the pleasure of traveling in the UK last year and got to meet Dan Barton and his lovely wife CI. Also saw the beautiful hawthorns Dan has.
Thank you for posting as has been expressed we hope to see more of your trees and accents.
Cheers

Pup

Welcome Harry, beautiful tree, beautiful accent too. I think I remember when that accent was born! I was buying pots from Vic at the time and I remember him saying Harry his web site guy was having a baby. Congrats. Hope you enjoy ausbonsai

Wow. What a transformation. Welcome to Ausbonsai, Harry. Hope you won't mind us picking your brains from time to time. How come your bonsai age says '1'?
