The sweetest little thing is already starting to clour up. Every year it flowers intensely and the colour by the end of the flowering season is golden/orange/brown. My other pines dont have the same intensity in its flowering colour, I wonder why? Genetics?

These are not actually flowers, they are the male cones. With the female cones being the ones you usually associate with pines.
Depending on your pruning techniques you will get more or less male cones, however all "correct" pruning techniques for bonsai should remove the required buds for female comes to form.
Lovely tree.

Hey everyone, the sweet little tree came from pretty old stock maybe around the 70s. I acquired it in the mid 90s and it has bloomed with this intensity every year since I got it. I have other older black pines but the male cones look a dullish light yellow colour compared to this one which gets so golden orange in its colour. I will take more pics when it gets to the orange golden colour. Also this one, flowers so much earlier compared to the other ones. I know theyre male cones but I like to call them flowers. Does anyone know if this is a black pine or some other pine that Im not aware of, which flowers this golden colour and much earlier?
